How the Azimut S10 is redefining luxury sport boats
The flagship model from Italian builder Azimut Yachts S line, the S10, extends the yard’s concept of sporting performance while offering superior living capabilities out on the open waters in a refined and contemporary design. Officially debuted at the Cannes Yachting Festival in 2019, the Azimut S10 is part of Azimut Yachts’ broader design overhaul. The elegant exterior design is the work of Italian Alberto Mancini, while the modern and welcoming interiors stem from interior designer Francesco Guida.
Measuring 28.72 metres in length, the S10 breaks away from the more traditional concepts for superyachts. Inspired by sports cars and seaside villas, Mancini incorporated the idea of terraces into the S10 design. Resulting in a 20-square-metre flybridge that reimagines the classic open layout, together with an original and versatile layout for the main deck, the S10 offers owners new forms of space.
A key standout feature of the S10 is the infinity terrace on the main deck aft. A central carbon and steel staircase, similar to a vertebra column, connects the flybridge to the main deck while creating a protected outdoor seating area aft, where guests can enjoy the surroundings while being sheltered from the elements. The flybridge overhang and glass panes on either side offer protection without interrupting the views. The main deck is dedicated to living and socialising, which is why the furniture aft can be rearranged for al-fresco dining, dancing or more. Steps on either side of the terrace lead down to the foldable swimming platform, which adds another 10-square metres of exterior space when opened. The main saloon can be accessed seamlessly through a set of sliding glass doors from the infinity terrace. Available in a configurable layout, another set of curved glass doors can be used to divide the space which houses the dining room and main saloon even further. Offering plenty of spaces for socialising, a sweeping lounge can be found at the bow with sunpads and sofas to enjoy the sun all day.
Another noticeable feature of the S10 is the cockpit, which is split into two areas, one on the flybridge and the other on the main deck. One of the first sporting yachts to feature an integrated glass bridge, it is designed to be intuitive to use while remaining in line with the rest of the S10’s sleek, modern and sporty design. The lower deck houses guest accommodation for up to 8 and features contemporary, welcoming decor throughout. A spacious feeling ensuite master cabin is found amidships, with a chaise lounge, bar and dedicated working space. Two ensuite VIP cabins with queen beds and a configurable ensuite cabin comprise the remaining accommodation. The galley, plus two crew cabins, are located aft, with a hidden dumb waiter to send food up and down discreetly from the galley to the dining area. A dayhead is also located cleverly inside a small space behind the glass bridge and accessible from a side door. Powered by two 2,600 MTU 16V engines, the S10 has a top speed of 35 knots and a cruising speed of 30 knots, effortlessly combining clever design, high performance and luxury into one.
